CDS is Canada's national securities depository, clearing and settlement hub for domestic and cross-border depository-eligible securities. It supports Canada's equity, fixed income and money markets and is accountable for the safe custody and movement of securities, the processing of post-trade transactions, and the collection and distribution of entitlements relating to securities deposited by participants.

The Issuer Services Student Intern contributes to the daily activities which include review, analysis and approval of issuer offering documents submitted for onboarding and eligibility in CDS clearing and settlement services. These activities are in support of IPO's, private placements, corporate actions, post trade processing, as well as cross border transactions. The team also ensures that data integrity is maintained following established global association standards. This role involves working with multiple queues for processing client requests, input of data, customer support and collaborating with a team to ensure all services are completed on time.

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Onboarding

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ongoing customer interaction with issuers and other intermediaries to guide them through the requirements and verify or confirm details to complete assessment related to their requests

  • Ensure all client requests and relevant data management activities are processed accurately, within the established guidelines and deadlines

  • Update and maintain all internal databases while ensuring a high level of detail and accuracy

  • Complete analysis of legal documentation supporting new issues to determine the event processing and eligibility criteria requirements have been met

  • Research, analyze and resolve issues and discrepancies identified and/or escalate critical issues promptly

  • Assist with delivery on functions and projects within the team

Must haves:

  • Undergraduate degree studies in either: Business/Commerce, Finance or Economics

  • Operational/business experience in Financial Services Industry

  • A good understanding of the different types of securities and associated features.

  • Familiarity with Issuers offering documents and circulars (Prospectus, Offering Circular, Articles of Incorporation, etc.)

  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Excel as well as knowledge of other software (Google, MS Office)

  • Provide excellent client service, maintain relationships, and work in a team oriented environment

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Strong ability to balance competing priorities in a time sensitive environment

Nice to haves:

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • Bilingual - both written and oral preferred but not required

Note:

  • Hybrid role: 2 -3 days per week in the downtown Montreal office

  • 4 month Co-op / Internship: Jan 6, 2025 - April 25, 2025
