Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Produce quality snow using snowmaking equipment
  • Adjusting, relocating, turning, or moving of snow guns, sometimes by hand, to maintain snowmaking efficiency
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment, including water pipes, fluid levels and volume, temperature controls, energy consumption, and diesel fuel systems
  • Document and report mechanical/safety issues, complete maintenance logs and checklists
  • Maintain all safety barriers, padding, and guards around snowmaking equipment
  • Ensure Glen Eden roads, parking lots, and walkways are clear of snow and sanded
  • Responsible for operating specialized seasonal maintenance and other equipment (i.e., Plow trucks, Tractors, Snowmobiles, large mowers)
  • Work closely with and assist other departments such as Grooming, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton's Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings, overnights, and holidays) when optimal temperatures provide for the best snowmaking
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions including adverse weather (wind, snow, ice)
  • Previous related experience or experience operating equipment is an asset
  • Ability to do basic system troubleshooting, awareness of the dangers involved with high-pressure vessels, and knowledge of restarting a system after an emergency shutdown
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of tasks as required
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class "G", with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
  • Successful candidates must provide own CSA approved safety footwear prior to first day of employment *Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.
  • Successful candidates must provide own safety approved helmet prior to first day of employment *Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications is considered and asset.
