Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provide instruction for assigned Ski/Snowboard lessons
  • Provide for the care, safety, well-being and personal development of students of all ages/ability levels
  • Maintain records, including lesson attendance, class ability levels, material covered, and incidents
  • Provide ongoing feedback to parents/participants regarding their progression in lessons
  • Assist with organizing classes and other duties to ensure the smooth operation of Snow School programs
  • Attend all required training sessions both on and off hill
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational throughout the season
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton's Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills to work with the public
  • Prior experience teaching freestyle skiing or snowboarding with the Glen Eden Snow School, or another reputable snow school is an asset
  • Experience working with or providing education/supervision to children an asset
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Successful candidates must be active members of CASI/CSIA prior to first day of employment
  • Must be certified in CASI Freestyle Level 1 (Snowboard) or CSIA Snow Park Certification (Ski)
  • Working knowledge of risk management best practices in terrain park
  • Successful candidates must provide own ski or snowboarding equipment
    • Skis/Poles or Snowboard
    • Helmet
    • Black snow pants (no patterns) *Uniform jacket will be provided for the season
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
