Summary

Bell Media has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Producer / Multi-Skilled Journalist (MSJ) to join the CTV Vancouver Island Newsroom. In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of creating, writing, producing a 30 minute Newscast, along with reporting of a news story from researching and interviewing to shooting and editing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing a half hour newscast, writing and editing
  • Originating, writing, shooting, editing, interviewing, researching, and producing television stories for the Vancouver Island market
  • Working closely with the Managing Editor on producing/gathering local content
  • Utilizing ENG equipment & digital editing software (AVID Cloud UX) to produce stories in a timely, engaging and accountable manner
  • Close attention to legal, ethical, and accuracy issues in reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

Critical Qualifications

  • Proven background in rundown/lineup producing
  • Proven background in news gathering and reporting with a strong editorial sense and news judgement
  • Experience in Electronic News Gathering, Video/Audio/Editing
  • Journalism / College or University level education a definite asset
  • Strong written, research, camera skills
  • Self-initiative and ability to work independently under pressure of deadlines
  • Keen interest in and understanding of current events and local community issues
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence (or equivalent) with clean driving record (abstract will be required)
