Job Summary:

As the Snowmaking Lead Hand, you are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our mountain snowmaking equipment and supervision of the graveyard shift Snowmaking Team. As a part of Mountain Operations Team, you will inspect and maintain the snowmaking plant machinery and infrastructure, work towards service level objectives and department goals with the supervision of three additional Snowmakers. We are expected to deliver a safe and exceptional experience for all mountain guests.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate with the Pump and Compressor plant to ensure safe and efficient operation of all snowmaking equipment.
  • Regularly inspect and perform scheduled or unscheduled maintenance on snowmaking plant machinery or infrastructure.
  • Contribute to team effort by assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintaining a friendly and positive attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by Snowmaking Manager and Senior Staff.
  • Keep up to date on snowmaking technology and processes.
  • Snow cat and Snowmobile operation required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position reports directly to the Snowmaking Manager and is responsible for the direct supervision of three Snowmakers, the snowmaking plant, and equipment operations.

Required Qualifications and Abilities

  • Minimum 5 years experience operating and maintaining standard and automated fan gun technology.
  • 5 years experience operating Hydrostatic snow machines and snowmobiles
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to maintain Grouse Mountain Resort safety standards.
  • Ability to work varied shifts: graveyard, days, evenings, and / or weekends.
  • Will require 12-hour shifts including over-time days when conditions require.

Working Conditions

Winter weather conditions which can include both clear and cold evenings as well as snowing and wet conditions.

Compensation and Benefits

$25.00/hour up to 31.00/hour depending on experience.
