Scope of the job

As a Winter Transport, you are responsible for assisting all departments with daily transport needs and special events. Under direct supervision from the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Manager, the Winter Transport assist the mechanics with vehicle maintenance, transport employees, guest contractors and injured guests, manually load and unload vehicles, perform garbage duties, set up ski racks, assist with snow shovelling and removal, as well as some guest related duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing guest services to all visitors
  • Attending mandatory on-the-job training to learn how to operate vehicles at Grouse Mountain Resort
  • After sign-off by vehicle trainers, operating vehicles including snow transport machine
  • Performing operational equipment checks
  • Assisting mechanics with maintenance of the vehicles
  • Transporting employees, guests, contractors, workers and injured guests with Ski Patrol
  • Performing physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise
  • Manually loading and unloading transport vehicle (in winter, snow machine and in summer, trucks) or off-road vehicles
  • Unpacking, shelving and placing items in proper storage location
  • Transporting goods by hand, snow transport machine, or snow mobile
  • Keeping Lunch Room supplies such as: cleaning, and equipment stocked at all times
  • Emptying garbage bins located on mountain top; replacing bags and transporting garbage to chalet loading dock
  • Setting up ski racks every morning in the winter and taking them to storage
  • Shovelling snow to clear ice surface; shape stairs out of snow
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibility
This position reports directly to the Mountain Crew Supervisor and Mountain Operations Duty Manager, with no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Minimum two years’ work experience, preferably operating vehicles
  • Knowledge of Grouse Mountain terrain an asset
  • First Aid training an asset
  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5)
  • Possess excellent guest service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Mechanically inclined

Working Conditions

  • Winter Transport perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions.
  • Hours of operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include rotation of shifts, day/evening shifts, and weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, shovelling, and other forms of manual tasks.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting at $18.66/hour – $21.82/hour
